HYCC holds a weekly drop-in Job Club for anyone who feels they need help and support in looking for work.
As well as general guidance and help with finding job vacancies, advisor Craig can help with topics like CV writing and online applications. We can also guide you through registration on Universal Jobmatch and arrange for further computer tuition to move you forward.
We know that in order to claim benefits, you need to agree to apply for a minimum number of jobs per week. Unfortunately, staff at the Jobcentre and similar organisations rarely have time to show people exactly how to go about doing this — and as searching or applying online is often the only way to go, many people need extra help. We know that not everybody is able to use a computer: in fact, many jobseekers don't have, or have access to, computers at home. This is where HYCC's Job Club comes into its own.
Additionally, patrons with little or no computing experience can join up to the 'Learn My Way' online basic computing course. Provided by UK Online, this national course for beginners guides learners through all aspects of getting started on computers. For every section completed, learners can print out a certificate and include this on a C.V.
